Yesterday it was announced that the twins of Crown prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary will be christened at Holmens Krike in Copenhagen on 14.04.2011.
The Church was first build as an anchor forge but in 1563 it was coverted into the naval Church by King Christian IV. Among other it is the burial site of such notabilities as naval heroes Niels Juel and Peter Tordenskjold, and composer Niels Wilhelm Gade and contains artwork by, among others, Bertel Thorvaldsen and Karel van Mander.It has also hosted previous royal Events most notable the Wedding of the then Princess margrethe and the french ComteHenri de Laborde de Monpezat in 1967. And it was also used for the christenings of the present Queen Margrethe II. and hers sisters Benedikte and Anne-Marie. And also Crown Prince Frederik hiomselfwas christned in the Church in 1968.
